Hazel Oliver works using a water based plaster polymer known as an ‘eco-resin’. She uses a combination of traditional craft methods to carve, cast and turn her pieces. Embedded within the resin Hazel layers each piece with found lichens, windfall woods, twigs, branches, soils and sands. She used recycled coffee grounds and mussel and oyster shells from her local seafood restaurant in Falmouth.

Every piece is a complete one-off with unique patterning and placement of the found and recycled elements. Pieces are hand waxed and polished but not fully water sealed and are therefore not fully waterproof, they are heat resistant, wipe clean only.
